Visit the most beautiful places, such as the island of Santorini in Greece, Italy's Amalfi Coast and the town of Dubrovnik in the south of Croatia with your cruise to the Mediterranean. Italy is a remarkable place because your choices on what you can do differ greatly depending on the region you're traveling to.

I sailed on Royal Caribbean's Icon of the Seas. These were my 8 favorite amenities on the world's largest cruise ship.

Explore the Old Town of Corfu or Crete, or travel even further back in time to see the ancient Acropolis of Athens or the Temple of Aphaia on Aegina. After that, relax on the world-class beaches or go snorkeling to explore what lies beneath the warm, crystal-clear waters. Before you leave, drink a frappé iced coffee or ouzo, an anise-flavoured aperitif, and sample some regional culinary highlights.

Explore The Old City Of Montenegro

From the walled city of Dubrovnik to the palace of Split to the ancient Roman ruins of Istria, there is so much history to discover here. But the true wonder is the natural beauty you can find throughout the country. Visit Krka to see cascading waterfalls, or travel to the Plitvice Lakes National Park to see towering mountains. Island-hop the Dalmatian Coast, making stops at the small, quaint villages and stunning beaches along the way. While on your Mediterranean cruise you may discover that Barcelona, Spain is a foodie paradise. You can spend a night wandering the streets of the city, where you can find tapas on every block.

The live jazz bar

No matter where you stop, you can feast on some of the finest seafood in the world. Plus, you can indulge yourself with gyros and souvlaki topped with the freshest ingredients. No matter which islands you find yourself visiting in Greece, you'll know you're setting foot among the best places to visit in the Mediterranean.

Discover Culture And Romance In Italy

The ship's riff on Broadway-approved "Wizard of Oz" — 16-piece live orchestra and flying bed included — delighted me, a hater of most musicals. There's no need to grab coffee before harnessing up for the part-zipling, part-agility Crown's Edge course. You'll be jolted awake when the floor drops from beneath your feet, leaving you dangling 154 feet above the ocean before the zipline kicks in. However, if you don't like the feeling of your stomach dropping, I'd advise skipping the 46-foot-tall drop slide. Tour the Public Art in Burnsville, MN Did you know there are several bronze art pieces scattered throughout Burnsville? Maybe you have found them all or noticed a few and are curious about the rest.

If you're getting hungry while exploring on your travel vacation to Cyprus, then it's time to dig into some local cuisine. After you've filled your stomach, you can dance the night away and soak up the nightlife at the various clubs and rooftop bars. A trip to Milos will bring you face to face with massive white cliffs that will make you feel as if you're on the moon. If it's history you're after, make a stop in Athens while planning your vacation in the Greek Isles and visit the Acropolis for a step back in time.

Home of Napoleon Bonaparte, Corsica is an island located just south of France and right above Sardinia, Italy. Not only did he grow up here, but he was even baptized in the Notre Dame Cathedral right in town, and his family home now serves as a museum. To take in its beauty, visit the Calanques de Piana — breathtaking yet dramatic red-rock cliffs. Here, you can visit caves, overlook the deep blue ocean, and spot eagles flying overhead. If you'd rather take a stroll through the old town, you can visit Place Foch in Ajaccio, where you'll fall in love with the charming rainbow colored buildings. Spend the rest of your day sipping on Corsican wine and enjoying amazing cheeses and cured meats.

Venture To Nearby Spain

If there was ever a place that combined culture and romance to perfection, it's seen most with a trip to Italy. Stroll through cobblestone streets in cities like Florence and Rome, or take to the canals in Venice. If you're interested in more of a sunny holiday, the Amalfi Coast provides just that. Here, you can hike Mount Vesuvius or fill your stomach with pizza in Naples. The mega-ship's food hall wasn't nearly as diverse or exciting as the one on Norwegian Prima. It's the first show-at-sea I've seen with a waterfall and nine-foot-tall robotic arms, and so far, it's one of my favorites.

ITALY & THE AMALFI COAST

But if you're a jazz fan or looking for a peaceful nightcap, none of these options will top the live music at Lou's Jazz 'n Blues. If you want to feel like you're drinking in a nest atop a tree, bring your coffee-infused cocktail from nearby Rye and Bean to one of the elevated pods. While I would've preferred a quieter atmosphere (the DJ did not, in fact, play smooth jazz), the pool's views, day beds, and lack of screaming children were hard to beat. Plenty of family-friendly cruise ships have waterslides, but few have six — or even one that requires a multi-person raft. But of all the activities the new world's largest cruise ship has to offer, my eight favorites are, for the most part, ones I've yet to see on another vessel. If you're a frequent cruiser — especially with Royal Caribbean — amenities like the mini-golf course and water playground may not seem exciting.

However, if you are ever dissatisfied with any aspect of our service or our Web site, pleaseclick hereto tell me about it. Mediterranean Cruise Café recreates its strong Mediterranean heritage with a menu of delicacies and service style that reflects its origins in Greece and the Eastern Mediterranean.

Pristine turquoise waters and white pebble beaches welcome you to this small picturesque country. Go offboard to Split to visit a number of its 1,200 stunning islands, like Korcula, Hvar or Mljet, or explore Diocletian's imposing palace. Join a wine-tasting tour if you can, and don't miss a trip to the cascading waterfalls, forests and bright lakes of Krka or Plitvice Lakes National Park. For more of an "off-the-beaten-track" destination, pop on over to Montenegro.
